Mr. Brooke, of Ashwith, and Mr. Watkinson, of Ilkley, sent their half-yearly rents in December, 1662, with an apology for having delayed in consequence of the " great storme and uncertainetie of the way, whether passable or not. " About this time the following entry is made in the school records : — " October ist, 1669.
