For good and bad alike there was only the dreary ghost-existence in Sheol, feeble and futile and without possibility of deliverance, existence in the realm of death. And we saw how Old Testa- ment faith could not rest in this, but at last in the course of a wonderful Divine education attained 60 THE HOPE OP OUR CALLING to a better hope.
