What reading level is The Invitation (Matchmaker Trilogy) book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
After spending most of the night on deck, manning the sails when the wind picked up shortly after one, he’d expected to sleep later. But Shaye had invaded his dream world as much as she was invading his thoughts now that he was awake. A change had come over her in the water yesterday, and it hadn’t been a momentary thing. She’d been distracted for most of the afternoon and thoughtful for much of the evening. Was it surrender? Not quite. She hadn’t come to him that night on deck to declare her de...votion and beg him to make love to her. But she did seem to have conceded to an inner turmoil. She seemed to have realized that it wouldn’t just go away, that it had to be faced. He wished he knew what was at the root of that inner turmoil, but she guarded it closely. He wasn’t dumb; he knew when to push a subject and when to back off. Not that he really thought of her as a “subject.” He was too personally involved for that. But his feel for people had gotten him where he was professionally, and he was counting on it now.
