" The old woman and the Twins made their way to the platform and sat downon a bench near the edge of it. Many other people were sitting orstanding about. An old man stood up on the platform. He told the storyof Cuchula...in [pronounced _Koohoolin_]--the "Hound of Culain"--and how hefought all the greatest warriors of the world on the day he first tookarms.
When he had finished, another man took his place and told the story ofDeirdre and Naisi, and another told the fate of the four children of Lirthat were turned into four beautiful swans by their cruel stepmother.
And when the stories were finished a prize was given for the best one, and the Twins were glad that it was for the story of Deirdre, for thattale was like an old friend to them.
