The sons of Loyola thus, among other ways, expressed them selves regarding the Dutch ; and their Superior, the Mandarin Father Adam Schott, made a long representation, with a similar object, to the Emperor, who lent to him implicit belief. Could it, then, fail to happen that the embassy, notwithstanding all the presents which they had made, were sent home again with their business unaccomplished ?
