They had advised me to go to the doctor to certify that I was physically disabled, because indeed my legs were in very bad shape. And the doctor, who was a good man, advised me that the head of the revolutionary committee in Elabuga was a Bolshevik and that despite my medical certificates I would be forcibly drafted by the Red Army and sent to the front where the Fifth Red Army was already fighting on the Kama against the insurrection on the Volga, which had started at th i s t i me .
