Yet, they are very friendly withal, for every one seemed to be strivi...ng to induce us to go to their homes to take tea and to pass the night. I had been m'Srried but a few days, and the following were some of the quea* tions put to me : — " How did you obtain your wife ?" 108 THE LITE or "Where were you married?" ^*Did her father con- •ent?" "How many of your people have married our white women ?" These and similar inquiries were eon* stantly made, and were exceedingly antioying.
