Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sac- rifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 6. Wherefore also, it is contained in the scripture : Behold, I lay in Sion a Chief Corner-stone, elect, precious : and he that believeth on Him shall not be confounded. 7. Unto you therefore which believe, He is pre- cious : but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the Head of the corner, 8. An...d a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to than which stumble at the word, being disobedient ; whereunto also they were ap- pointed. 9. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priest- hood, an holy nation, a peculiar people ; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath call- ed you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Then, any such historical or descriptive document as may have been prepared to be deposited iu the Corner-stone may be read, and the stone having been set in its place, the Minister, laying his hand upon it, or striking it thrice with a mallet, shall say: 83 I lay the Corner-stone of a house to be erected, and devoted to the service of Almighty God ; in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
