But Maui was still angry, because he had been obliged to ask so many times before the Fire-god would tell him how to make fire; so he killed the old Fire-god, and, having obtained the secret of making fire by rubbing sticks together, he went back to Earth and taught it to man.
Maui's parents were very angry with him for having killed his ancestor, the Fire-god, and asked if he had buried him.
