"That ther...e is not satisfactory evidence that j)ersons professing to be original witnesses of other miracles in their nature as certain as these are, have ever acted in the same manner in attestation of the accounts which they delivered, and properly in conse- quence of their belief of those accounts. " In thus challenging a comparison, and seemingly resting the whole case on it, he surely overlooks the Biblical history of the Jews. There ^^e behold a Avonderful resemblance to the new revelation. But instead of a man, God — God himself appears on Mount Horeb.
