" Why, Phemie, what nonsense it is to take a joke in that way ! " cried Ai-thur.
"I did not know that you were joking, " mur- mured Phemie.
"Joking or not, I never meant to vex you. Come, we'll have no more of this, " said the boy ; " I vote that we have a little sociable game.
