Shortly afterwards a ship-of-war arrived, the captain of which declared he knew nothing of Mr. Hill, neither had he (Mr. Hill) any authority from the British Government. Mr. Hill used every means in his power, by misrepresentations and gross falsehood, to induce Captain Freemantle to re- move me from the island. This Captain Freemantle re- fused, saying he had a good opinion of me, and should not separate me from my family.
