This exemption is to continue after the death of the householder, for the benefit of the widow and family, — some, or one of them continuing to occupy such homestead, — until the youngest becomes of age, and until the death of the widow. No release or waiver of such ex- emption will be valid, unless the same be in writing, subscribed by the householder, and acknowledged in the same manner as convey- ances of real estate are required to be acknowledged.
