Mr. Carrington's note, it will be seen, was not made until five days after the incident. Mr. Feilding's state- ment, made four months later, that he saw Eusapia's left hand resting on R. 's right in the middle of the table, could in any case be worthy of little credence. Moreover, it is in conflict with R. *s contemporary state- ment that !the medium's left hand was stroking his wrist. How long had the hand been stroking his wrist?
