Fire, flame, smoke, and spark, an instant then She rode in Majesty triumphant, when Slowly she sank into her native deep, THE OCEAN MONARCH. 75' Swift o'er the spot the gathering billows sweep, Heave for an instant, sinking then again And all was still upon the spreading main ; Nought was there left of what before had been, But blacken 'd timbers scatter'd o'er the scene, With a few floating spars, these all now there To mark the place of interment, or where The MoNAECH that had reign'd, and bravely too, O'er sea and billow, with her gallant crew, Had sought in death the shelter of the wave; — She lies entombed in her own ocean grave.
