It produces its bloom in Septem- ber and October, and lasts three weeks in perfection. The flowers are large, one and sometimes two being on a spike. It is a very desirable plant, and ought to be in every collec- tion, however small, as it requires but very little room. It grows the best on a block of wood, with a little sphagnum moss, suspended from the roof of the house, with a good supply of water at the root in the growing season. A scarce Orchid.
C. Maxima. A magnificent species from Colum...bia ; grows from a foot to eighteen inches high. A distinct growing plant, producing its blossoms, which are bright rose, in No- vember and December, four or five on a spike ; lip richly variegated, with dark crimson veins down the centre. Of this there are two varieties. J. Day, Esq. , of Tottenham, and J. A. Turner, Esq. , of Manchester, both possess a very fine variety of this charming plant, which will last in perfection three weeks.
C. McMorlandiL A fine species from Brazil ; in the way of Mossice, growing about a foot high, with dark green foliage.
