Their lord, ships were aware that he was too nearly related to the officer whose conduct he was vindicating to deal in panegyric. This, however, he bad executed with the utmost temper, ability, and mo-* deration. There was no governor in tbe various colonics and dependencies of Great Britain who had acted in a more upright, honourable, assiduous, and pru- dent manner.
