" Newcastle, who had "a particular reverence for the person of the King, " responded that he was ready to obey His Highness in all things as though His Majesty was there present, and accordingly the army of the Prince and the garrison marched together from York, and on the after- noon of the 2nd of July came in front of the position of their adversaries.
