In no case shojuld cords or belts, be worn so tight as to impede tbe cilrcuiation of the blood. A ligament put around the arm by the surgeon, when he wishes to bleed from the arm, ciuses the veins to become fuller and swol- len. The same in true, applied to any part of tbe sys- tem. This fulness of the veins is followed by knotty- like swellings, which are called varicose veins of the limbs.
These veius are not unfrequently the cause of ulcers. If the veins of the limb become fuH and permanently swol- len, a surgeon should be consulted, that the cause be re- moved and suffering averted.
