The Citizen was, and, if it has not lost its i
...dentity by con- solidation, is the oldest newspaper in Kentucky, and is reel- ing off the last quarter of its first hundred years. What a career it has had! It witnessed our second war (18 12) with Great Britain. It chronicled the battle of Waterloo in 181 5 and the downfall of the first Napoleon. It passed through our late civil war, the most terrific of modern times, and in 1870 contained an account of the battle of Sedan and the arrest of Napoleon III. The same can be said of very few newspapers in the United States.
