* Myrtle street will lead to the Alms- house, and out to Creek street. Woodbury street, once the pretty Jericho lane, lined with barberry bushes, leads you along the shore of the North Pond, past some old houses, near one very ancient red one, and then through a suburb laid out within a few years. It was hoped by the projectors, that if streets were opened the wealthy inhabitants of the city might be attracted hither, but the railroad and the breweries were too near. This street also ends in Cr...eek sti'eet, just beyond the Woodbury mansion.
North Cemetery.
This lot of land was sold to the town in 1753, for a GUIDE BOOK. 107 cemetery, by Col. John Hart. Interments had pre- vioush^ been made here, although the Point of Graves had been the principal bm'ial place. Land to the north and west of the original acre was afterwards purchased by the town from Dr. William Cutter. The place contains many interesting mementos, amono^ them the marble monument brouo^ht from England by Col. Boyd in 1787 The colonel died on the voyage, and the monument was at once erected.
