In heat exhaustion, animal may become dull, and requires urging sometime before any marked symptoms; generally perspi- ration is checked, and then he becomes weak in gait, breath hurried or panting, ej^es watery and bloodshot, nostrils dilated and highly reddened, assuming a dark purple color, pulse rapid and weak, the heart bounding, followed by unconsciousness and death. Brisk friction of the limbs, and the application of Spirits of Camphor is good. Repeat the stimulants in one-half hour, and after that every hour or two, if pulse has not grown stronger and slower. Sponge the body with cold water and then give brisk rubbing.
