At a sale of property by Governor Wilkins, ^lay 6th, 1824, a plot of ground was purchased by the con- sistory on Third Avenue in the vicinity of 121st Street. Not long afterward the work of building commenced, and finally on September 18th, 1825, it was dedicated to the service of God.
