The City Register, before entering upon the duties of his office, shall take and subscribe an oath before some Judge or Jus- tice of the Peace of the county of St. Louis, to support the con« «titutions of the United States and of the State of Missouri, and faithfully demean himself in the office of City Register of the city of St. Louis, during the term for which he is elected; which oath sha...ll be certified by the Judge or Justice administering the same, and filed in the office of the City Comptroller. § 8. The Register, before entering upon the discharge of the duties of his office, shall enter into bond to the city of St. Louis, with two or more sufficient securities, to be approved of by the Mayor^ in the sum of ten thousand dollars, conditioned that he will well and truly perform the duties of City Register of the city •f St. Louis, and comply with the ordinances and resolutions passed, or which may be passed in relation to said office; which bond shall be attested by the Mayor and filed in the office of the City Comptroller.
