The fallowing is his language : " ' They, ' (the Catholics) he states, ' teach that by good works the sinner can merit salvation, ' &c. Now the Catholic church teaches with St. Paul, 'That without faith it is impossible to please God, ' Heb. Xi. 6. 'That if I had faith so as to remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing, ' i Cor. Xiii. 2. 'That as the body without the soul is dead, so also faith without works is dead, ' James ii.
