To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
II omits "[Isnifi^Nl; and the Pethicha alters the Yer. nnron f)J '^yt: ir\nic^ into ir^nic^ ptomu; and (as in Yer.) adds D>^'K1 to D'lt^nDi ons) — both of which points iSnd no equivalent in ch. 11. We need but glance at the following paragraph to be convinced that E. R. in the three cases used the Babli and not the Yerushalmi. Ch. II cofnes back afterwards to the Yer. 'w n'Dpn N^Dn^ though in very few words, and though 'm pKimj inim is taken from Babli. But the Pethicha ends completely as the B...abli, with the slight alteration WltniS for KTiloiS). The Pethicha quotes 'iDT "|^ ND^: 1ND word for word from Babli, whereas ch. II works out this point in a very detailed manner. Strange to say, the connecting link of the Babli 'iDi D'Jlt^ HDD Km is omitted in ch. 11 and reappears in the Pethicha, where also the explanatory phrase is added 'm II^IB 'jlt^ HID uyb which is wanting in ch. 11. The Pethicha introduces from Yer. 'oi 'nlB ^bn 'Q WK and adds '1D1 JTJintt^ ny all of which is wanting in ch.
