SECOND ENLARGEMENT, THE FLORIDA PURCHASE.
(59,720 Square Miles.) In the year 1820, after a negotiation of about two years, the Spanish Government ratified a treaty with the United States by which, for the sum of $5,000,000, the Floridas were ceded to us.
