What reading level is The Story of Korea book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
The issue of the battle was undecided, but the Japanese loss was heavy : their prospect of being able to winter in the capital was gone ; large Chinese reinforcements, under the Commander-in-Chief, were, it was known, on their way to Seoul ; supplies were difficult to obtain ; and it was decided to retreat once more and winter in their old camps in the south. The retreat was accomplished without pursuit or attack on the way, but on the part of the Japanese it was a continuous progress of destru...ction. Each town that they passed on their march was ruthlessly plundered ; and the culmination of their vandalism was reached at Kyunju, the historic capital of the ancient king'dom of Silla, rich in noble memorials of the past and in the best artistic products of medieval Korean art. It was one of the birthplaces of the Japanese civilisation and contained much that should have appealed to theit national sentiment, but the soul of a retreating arnay, whose foes are not far off, is dead to sentimient.
