Under this system the system which has now been applied to all the great colonies the members of the Executive, or the " Govern- ment " for the time being, are chosen from among the ranks of the party which commands a majority in the House of Assembly, and they are accountable not... to the Imperial Government but to the people of the colony. * It is necessary, before concluding this chapter a chapter in which an endeavour has been made to indicate the lines of development * Technically they are servants of the Crown ; but the Crown, of course, represents the interests of the people of that part of the Queen's dominions in which they serve.
