The court was not allowed to do business, and a compromise was effected by which those men confined in prison for debt should be released. It was impossible to transact any business in the courts of Middlesex, Bristol, Worces- ter, Hampshire or Berkshire Counties. Governor Bowdoin issued a proclama- tion calling together the members of the General Court October 18, 1786. A general pardon was granted all persons who had taken part in the insurrec- tion, provided they would take the oath of allegiance before Jan.
