It is conceded that Connecticut wanted concession of western lands, and to secure them made con- cessions to the rival claimants. The people in the valley had the state troops straddled on them. They robbed, outraged the women, and acted more hellish than the Indians ever had. The people were poor and lived in huts. They were trying to raise crops and to provide themselves with clothes.
A i^etition was presented to the Assembly of Pennsyl- vania for a righting of the wrongs they were enduring and for the appointment of a commission.
