When families came to stay a week or so at the monastery, as often happened, he would worm out of them all their pri- vate history, and would talk about them in a very worldly way afterward. Noth- ing delighted him more than to converse for hours with some old woman about subjects not usually discussed between the sexes. Whenever he could get hold of a young married couple he would give them advice on delicate matters till the lady often ran away blushing. Several times had complaints been made... to the father superior regarding this monk. Although Anastasi pried into all these matters early in his life in the monastery, yet he did not feel that his time was yet ripe for correcting the abuses.
134 Father Anthony "I will wait," he thought, "till I am a monk, like the rest of them, and then I will make a reform in this monastery." In the meantime, Arrastasi surprised even the hegoumenos by his, austerity. Keeping his private saint continually before his mind's eye, he strove ever more and more to imitate him.
