If hesucceeded in separating Saxony from the Swedish alliance, and inestablishing, conjointly with that power, a third party in the Empire, the fate of the war would be placed in his hand; and by this single stephe would succeed in gratifying his revenge against the Emperor, revenging the neglect of the Swedish monarch, and on the ruin of both, raising the edifice of his own greatness.
