She was born in England and was brought to New England by her father, Moses Paine, who settled at Braintree before 1641. After his marriage Henry Adams removed to Medfield, and his children were born there. On Febr...uary 21, 1676, in the Indian attack upon Medfield, Mr. Adams was killed by the savages on the doorstep of his own house. His wife, who had taken refuge in one of the fortified houses of the village, where she was lying ill in bed in an upper room, was accidentally shot within two hours after the death of her husband, a bullet from a gun care- lessly fired by one of the defenders in the room below coming through the floor and fatally wounding her. She died a week later. Children: 1. Eleazer, born in Braintree.
