The sun had set, and he had just settled himself to sleep with his head beneath his wing, when he saw the same little boy who had stood to look at him in the morning, coming again from the pass in the hills ; and when he had reached the foot of the rock, he spread on the ground some thin cord curiously twisted in a manner VIRGINIAN NIGHTINGALES.
