She stood in front of him, holding both his hands. The dressing gown she was wearing had come loose, but she didn’t seem to notice. He kept his eyes high. But every time I close my eyes I just see everything happening.’ He brought an arm round and hugged her. ‘I’ll lie down with you,’ he said. ‘If you want I’ll lie down with you, until you sleep.’ She had her arms around him now.
