In his eleventh year Master Bezaleel Cushtnun ivnitc his father, the original letter being now in the house : '' Stephen and Henry have both commenced this quarter with an nnusual degree oi diligence in their studies.
Their deportment is remarkably good/* Nehcmiah Cleveland wrote of him during hia boyhood : " Most dis- tinctly do I recall the bright, pleasant Iwy as I often saw him at his father's house while I was living in Portland, in the years 1810-17.
