The treaty provided that the castle and lands should be held in the king's name, and perhaps the king would ultimately restore them, but in any case would give Rhys full satisfaction ^ ; he was to do homage and trust to the king's sense of justice, to grant to the English forces the right to march through his remaining lands, and even to give armed assistance to Pain if it should be required.
