" The chair says: "It is moved to commit. Are you ready for the question ? * * * Those in favor * * * It is carried, and the question whether the club shall be- l8o THE PRECEDENCE OF MOTIONS come incorporated is referred to a committee. Of how many shall that committee consist? " Mrs. Robbins says: "I move that ...it consist of five. " This is discussed, if other numbers are suggested the number is decided upon as shown in section 108, and is settled by vote. The chair then says : " How shall that committee be appointed, - by the chair, or from the floor? " A motion is made "that it be appointed by the chair" or "that it be nominated from the floor; " and this is put to vote. If it is the former, the chair appoints, either at once, or before the close of the session, five members to serve as this committee, the one first named acting as chairman until the committee meets and elects its chairman ; or, the chair may appoint one as the chair- man.
