And, lasdy, the said assembly, having drawn up two several remonstrances to die proprietary, recitmg the particulars of their grievances and corophonto agamst the said governor, took occasion m the last of them, dated June 10th, 1707, to express themsdves as follows ; ** We, and the people we represent, bemg stiH gritr^ ed and oppressed with the male-admmistration and prac- tices of thy deputy, and the 31 carriage, unwarrantable proceedings, and great exactions of thy secretary, are like to be destroyed by the great mjustice and arbitrary oppressi(ns of thy evO mmisters, who abuse the powers given thee by the crown, and we suppose have too much prevsuled upon thee to leave us hkherto without relief.
