With burnt-ofierings, and calves of a year old ? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or wdth ten thousand rivers of oil ? Shall I give my first-born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul V No ; learn another oblation : ' God hath shewed thee, man, what is good ; and what doth he require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God V The poet could ask the priest, In templo quid facit auruvi ?
