This is a moderate rate of estimate. The other particulars are evidently tlie re- sult of much labour and research, and considering the sub- sequent increase of buildings and other evidences of an increase of propeiiy, there does not appear to be any reason to question the propriety, for the present pm-jiose, of esti- mating the private property in the United Kingdom, at 2,800 millions, at the least.
