Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog) was published in 1889 for the first time. It is a humorous story created by Jerome K. Jerome who narrated about a holiday on a boat taking place on the Thames. At the beginning the author was wishing to write a serious book about travel which would include the history of the region, the routes. But then the humorous nature of Jerome K. Jerome took over and one of the most outstanding humorous novels appeared. It seems that it will never get old or
...out-of-date as the jokes in it are funny and witty. In many ways the book has an autobiographical nature as Jerome himself and his two best friends George Wingrave and Carl Hentschel who used to go for many boat trips together became the prototypes of the main characters. The dog was entirely made up because the author believed that the English way of living is connected to dogs. The novel is recommended to everyone who wants to spend some nice evenings reading and smiling.
