Nearer yet to Meeker is the well known Marvine Hunting Lodge, situated on Marvine Creek, one of the finest trout streams in America, where also the best hunting can be had within easy reach.
From Wolcott station it is eighty miles to Steamboat Springs, which is the outfitting point for the game regions further east and north, extending clear to the Wyoming line. This country is still very wild and to a great extent unexplored.
The top of the range is covered with green timber and there are nume
...rous parks, lakes and streams, the favorite haunt of the elk and deer. To the westward over loo miles to the Utah line the country is unsettled except along the principal streams, and therefore the wild game still has full sway. The country is broken by numerous ranges of hills, and the nutritious grasses which are produced make it an ideal home for game of all kinds. The far-famed Trapper's and Marvine Lakes, mentioned above, may also be reached from Steamboat Springs or from McCoy — a most desirable stopping place about twenty-one miles from Wolcott.
