Driven back upon their own resources by the coldness of all expert Opinion, von Welsbach and his associates had to attack the problem of the supply of the raw material necessary to their manufacture ; and were rewarded by the discovery that the scarcity of these minerals was not positive, but merely temporary, and that they exist in various localities in adequate quantity.
