Out of 23 participating towns in the Lakes Region, Belmont had the fourth highest participation, with 121 Belmont residents bringing items such as paints, solvents, pesticides, household cleaners, motor oil and batteries for safe disposal.

Latex paint is not considered hazardous, and proper disposal involves merely opening the can, exposing the paint to the air until it dries, then tossing the can into the regular household trash for curbsidc pickup.
