F. Cash and Investments At year end, the carrying amount of the Town's deposits is $419,322 and the bank balance is $436,376. Of the bank balance, $196,385 was covered by Federal depository insurance and $239,991 was uninsured. State Statutes authorize the Town to invest excess funds in the custody of the Treasurer in obligations of the United States Government, in savings bank deposits of banks incorporated under the laws of the State of New Hampshire, in certificates of deposit of banks incor...porated under the laws of the State of New Hampshire, or in national banks located within this State or the State of Massachusetts. These financial statements report investments in certificates of deposit and savings bank deposits under the caption Cash and Equivalents. The Town is further authorized to invest Trust Funds in obligations of political subdivisions and stocks and bonds, as they are legal for investment by New Hampshire savings banks. Capital Reserve Funds must be kept separate and not intermingled with Trust Funds.
