27 MATERIALS OP BELT CONSTRUCTION.
Belting Is manufactured from quite a variety of materials. The belts which have given the longest service are the oak-tanned leather belts.
The best material for these belts is provid- ed from a strip of the hide running along the back of the animal, about eighteen inches in width. The hide then decreases in value to tbe hide i^ich is out from the belly of the animsi The best hide is about two -tenths of an inch thick.
