" In our discourse upon the return of the ten lost tribes of Israel, it may be remembered that we showed that these tribes, in their journey to the east, according to the testimony of the Prophet Ezra, crossed the narrow passes of the Euphrates, for the Lord held still the flood till they were passed over, and from thence went into a ...far country of a year and a half s journey, where they dwelt until the latter time ; and that when they should return, the Most High would stay the springs of the stream again that they might pass over. This we regard as the key which unlocks the mystery of the sixth vial. It is proper to remark, however, that many commentators re- gard the Euphrates as a symbol of the Turkish power, and the pouring out of the sixth vial upon it, by which the waters thereof are dried up, as merely the gradual exhaustion ot that power by the judgments of Grod.
