And when e...xposed to "the intense beams of the sun, he was deprived of a friendly shade, he was very angry, and said, *' I do well to be an« gry, even unto death.'* The Jews, impatient of their troubles in the wilderness, wished to God, that they had died in the land of Egypt. Some worried with this peev- ish, discontented spirit, have not only wished for death, but executed their wish ; and because the world did not gratify their resjtless humour, they would stay in it no lorn ger. This uneasy temper, if it does not destroy life itself^ destroys all that is good ia life, and banishes every real en^ joyment.
